⚕️ Veterinary Note: This calculation is based on the standard metabolic water formula (ml/day = weight_kg0.75 × 70), adjusted for activity and diet moisture. Actual needs may vary with temperature, health status, and individual metabolism. Always ensure fresh water is freely available. Consult your vet if your pet drinks significantly more or less than expected.

How the Hydration Calculator works

🧮
Base formula. Metabolic water requirement = Weight(kg)⁰·⁷⁵ × 70 ml/day. This allometric formula is the veterinary gold standard for estimating baseline hydration needs.
🏃
Activity multiplier. Low activity = ×0.85 | Normal = ×1.0 | High = ×1.25. Active pets lose more water through panting, sweating (paw pads), and respiration.
🥫
Diet adjustment. Wet food contains ~70–80% moisture. A pet on a wet-food-only diet can get up to 60% of their daily water needs from food, so their drinking requirement is reduced accordingly.
🥛
Glass reference. We use 250 ml as one standard glass — a widely accepted reference volume. The result shows both ml and glasses for practical use.

⚖️ Is your pet at a healthy weight?

Proper hydration depends partly on body condition. Check your pet's Body Condition Score to ensure they're at their ideal weight.
